World Cup 2025/26: Willingen

After missing the Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf as one of the trial jumpers, the German ski jumper Andreas Wellinger is returning to the World Cup to compete at his home event in Willingen, Germany. On Saturday, Andreas finished 33rd in the qualification round, jumping 123.0 m and scoring 84.9 points. In the 1st Round, he placed 5th, jumping 134.0 m and scoring 108.1 points, enough to qualify for the Final Round. In the Final Round, he placed 6th, jumping 138.5 m, scoring 115.0 points, for a total score of 223.1 points. Finally, on Sunday, Andreas finished 18th in the qualification round, jumping 131.0 m and scoring 95.6 points, the same score as Finland's Jarkko Maatta. In the 1st Round, he finished 11th, jumping 133.5 m and scoring 108.3 points, the same score as his teammate Felix Hoffmann, and enough to qualify for the Final Round. In the Final Round, he finished 8th, jumping 150.5 m, scoring 133.0 points, for a total score of 241.3 points. It was a positive weekend for Andreas Wellinger, who, despite the wind, managed to showcase his talent and even landed some super jumps again. Qualification still needs work, but there's room for improvement. Now it's time for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, where Andreas returns to the Winter Olympics eight years after PyeongChang 2018, and he'll be aiming for medals.

Until next time!
