Summer Grand Prix 2025: Hinzenbach
Following a less than stellar performance in Predazzo, the German ski jumper Andreas Wellinger is ready to take part in the penultimate event of the Summer Grand Prix, in Hinzenbach, Austria. On Saturday, Andreas finished fifth in the qualification round, jumping 92.0 m and scoring 122.3 points. In the 1st Round, he was disqualified due to the size of his suit (it was 2 cm too long). Finally, on Sunday, in the 1st Round, Andreas placed 10th, jumping 87.0 m and scoring 109.7 points, enough to qualify for the Final Round. In the Final Round, he placed 7th, jumping 89.5 m, scoring 116.6 points, for a total score of 226.3 points. A bittersweet weekend for Andreas Wellinger. The last time he was disqualified from a competition was in 2014, when he was disqualified in Hinzenbach during the qualification round for the same reason: suit size. Eleven years without a disqualification, until now. Ironically, he was disqualified from the same hill eleven years later, also at the Summer Grand Prix. Andreas was unlucky on that occasion.
Until next time!
