World Cup 2024/25: Planica

 


Last seasonal event of the World Cup, in which the German ski jumper Andreas Wellinger is ready to take part in the event in Planica, Slovenia. On Thursday, Andreas qualified 1st, jumping 227.0 m and scoring 231.1 points. On Friday, in the 1st Round he placed 6th, jumping 227.5 m and scoring 215.6 points, enough to qualify for the Final Round. In the Final Round he placed 6th, jumping 225.5 m, scoring 214.5 points and scoring 430.1 points. On Saturday, Germany fielded Andreas Wellinger, Karl Geiger, Pius Paschke and Markus Eisenbichler (who was the last of his career as he announced his retirement) in the Team Competition. Andreas, who jumped second in the German team lineup, jumped 226.5 m in the 1st Round and 227.0 m in the Final Round. Germany finished 2nd with a total score of 1720.2 points, behind Austria and ahead of Slovenia. Finally, on Sunday, in the 1st Round he ranked 4th, jumping 236.5 m and scoring 220.3 points, enough to qualify for the Final Round. In the Final Round he ranked 3rd, jumping 236.5 m, scoring 235.5 points and with a total score of 455.8 points. The qualifying scheduled for Sunday has been cancelled due to timing issues for 1st Round. Andreas Wellinger finished 7th in the overall standings with a total score of 989 points, with 4 podiums, 2 victories and a silver medal on normal hill at the Ski Jumping World Championships in Trondheim.
