World Ski Championships 2023: Planica
The German ski jumper Andreas Wellinger feels ready to take part in the World Ski Championships in Planica, Slovenia, to continue his streak of victories and podiums. On Friday 24 February, in the qualification Andreas qualified 9th, jumping 97.0 m and with a score of 130.7 points. On Saturday 25 February, in the 1st Round he finished 2nd, jumping 101.0 m and scoring 132.7 points, enough to qualify for the Final Round. In the Final Round he finished 2nd, jumping 102.0 m, with a score of 126.5 points and a total score of 259.2 points. That means silver medal for Andreas Wellinger in normal hill. On Sunday 26 February, Team Germany fielded Selina Freitag, Katharina Althaus, Karl Geiger and Andreas Wellinger in Team Mixed. Andreas, who jumped fourth in the German team's line up, jumped 100.0 m in the 1st Round and 98.0 m in the Final Round. Germany ranked 1st, with a total score of 1017.2 points, ahead of Norway and Slovenia. On Thursday 2 March, in the qualification Andreas qualified 12th, jumping 128.0 m and with a score of 127.1 points. On Friday 3 March, in the 1st Round he finished 12th, jumping 127.5 m and scoring 129.9 points, enough to qualify for the Final Round. In the Final Round he finished 13th, jumping 130.5 m, with a score of 131.5 points and a total score of 261.4 points. Finally, on Saturday, Team Germany fielded Markus Eisenbichler, Constantin Schmid, Andreas Wellinger and Karl Geiger in Team Competition. Andreas, who jumped third in the German team's line up, jumped 126.5 m in the 1st Round and 131.0 m in the Final Round. Germany ranked 5th, with a total score of 1127.7 points. The World Ski Championships was bittersweet for Andreas Wellinger, but he takes home the silver obtained in the individual competition on normal hill and the gold obtained in the Team Mixed.
